St. Peter Claver Gospel Choir

On the second Sunday of our internship at the Woodlawn farm we visited the church with Jim.

The pastor greeted us interns warmly and the congretation were happy that we were interested in their church culture. The culture in American churches is very different from that found in Austria. In Austria we usually have a choir at the church but not one like a gospel choir. The songs of the gospel choir sound so powerful and rhythmic. All the listeners and church visitors seemed so happy and emotional when dancing to the music. The interaction with the pastor was very intense, different than in Austria. It was a very nice experience, and we really enjoyed the visit to a modern American Catholic Church.

This is one big tractor, Raymond Norris’s John Deere 7700 which he built and uses ONLY for tractor pull competitions. I look like a very small person on this mammoth machine.

Here I am in Washington, D.C. touching the top of the Washington Monument. It was a tall task!
