Sundays Were Not Dull....
Battle of the Bay
On Sunday, July 30th the Austrian gang had the chance to see a tractor pull. Invited by Raymond Norris, the farmer of Jubilee and Woodlawn, the interns were able to gain this experience.
A tractor pull is a competitive motor sport in which modified tractors or trucks drag a metal sled along a 300 feet distance as far as possible.
It was a special honor for the students to be invited by the winner of the top class. The students were very excited watching the impressive and unpredictable performances. It really was an adventure.
St. Peter Claver Church
The following Sunday, August 6th, we started our day with a warm welcome at St. Claver church.
For Austrians, especially for the ones growing up in rural areas, church usually is a very strict, boring and desultory event, but today the students were able to get a completely different impression of church and faith.
The St. Peter Claver church gave us a very lively and happy impression of what a Sunday morning can look like. To our surprise people of all age groups attended the empowering ceremony accompanied by a gospel choir. In comparison to the monotonous Austrian masses this was a rhythmic, casual, and spiritual hour that seems to be a big part in this community.
The interns want to thank the entire community for having them at their church.
