Putting Together a Grandfather Clock by Katrin Himmelbauer

On Friday the 22nd of July, Lily, Lena and I tried putting together a clock.
The only Information we had was the name of the producer “Maitland - Smith”.

Without introductions on how to put it together, we started by laying out all the different parts of the clock. After analysing it for a couple of minutes we began to do some researches about grandfather clocks. Maggie helped us to find some introductions that could help us a bit. Even though we found some information we could work with, it was still very complicated since our clock was a bit different.

When we didn’t make any progress anymore, we decided to go a different way and try to put the different parts into the clock. We finished most of it and it looks absolutely beautiful.

Although not everything worked the way we wanted it to work, I think we did really well and I’m really proud of us. What we learned from this was that clocks are much more complex that we think and their mechanism is very fascinating.
